This exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the paintings of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890), a genius who was ignored during his lifetime, but who nonetheless revolutionised the history of art. The tour retraces the different stages in the painter’s life, his stays in Arles, Paris and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Visitors are invited into the heart of the works, from his beginnings to his maturity, from his sunny landscapes to his nocturnes, portraits and still lifes.
Dark shades give way to warm hues, evoking Van Gogh’s inner world, at once disproportionate, chaotic and poetic, and underlining the constant dialogue between light and shadow.
This immersive exhibition transports visitors into the colourful and tumultuous world of this painter, a universe where the paintings are composed and come to life before their very eyes.
