CHAGALL, Paris – New York

Paris and New York, emblematic capitals of modern art, were two crucial stages in Chagall’s artistic career. This immersive exhibition retraces the artist’s stylistic research, drawing on the experiences he had in each of the cities where he lived.

Visitors will discover the many influences that inspired Chagall. In Paris, he encountered the Cubist and Fauvist movements and developed his rich and intense palette. In Vitebsk, he joined the Russian avant-garde, campaigning for the renewal of stage art. And it was in New York that his experience of New World space and architecture enriched this revolutionary exploration.

An eclectic artist, Chagall explored not only painting, but also the performing arts and ballet costumes, sculpture, ceramics, stained glass, mosaics… A multidisciplinary and monumental quest, which visitors will also undertake during this immersive exhibition.
